I grew up in the southeast Aurora area attending the local schools. I was active in high school playing lacrosse and played the snare drum in the marching band. After graduating high school, I marched with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps for one summer. In college, my focus was on academics and I graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful daughters.
Late in 2012 my neighbor asked if I would be interested in joining him at the local community rec center for a boot camp class. I joined him because I knew I was starting to live a very sedentary life and needed to get moving again. After several months of the boot camp classes my neighbor got busy with life, so I started searching for something else. The guys I worked with had been talking about this thing called CrossFit and it seemed like they were having a great time. So I checked out a box that was down the street. I haven’t looked back! Eric and I met and worked out regularly, always trying to one-up each other in every lift and WOD. When Eric opened Grail, I knew there wasn’t any other place that I’d want to be.
Every time I walk into the box, my focus is to give each WOD everything I’ve got. If I’m not on my back at the end, then I didn’t do it right! I keep an open mind and always try to learn something new each day. Technique is never mastered!
My QUEST: My main quest is to be CrossFitting when I’m 90. While getting there, I’ll continue to run obstacle course races and travel to beaches around the world with my wife and family. I want to share fitness with my daughters and teach them to be confident women.
