Meet Anita Karlin. Anita just earned her spot in the 500 Club. That means she has attended 500 classes at the Grail in just 2 years! When Anita came started at the Grail in March of 2019, she didn’t know what to expect and was just ‘trying it out.’ After a week, she said was all in, and has been going non-stop ever since! 😀

One of our favorite memories of Anita was in one of our virtual classes during the pandemic shutdown. Although we loaned out most of our equipment, athletes still had to get creative with at home objects. Anita got really creative – using two 5-gallon jugs of kitty litter to do deadlifts, while standing on a stack of cookbooks. 😺 There was no way we were going to let her get out of that day’s workout!

It took some time, but Anita’s husband, Brad also joined her at the Grail. Anita keeps busy with 3 teen boys, working full-time at Lowe’s, and competing in the Festivus Games last Saturday.

It has been such a pleasure seeing everything that Anita continues to accomplish in the gym, most recently handstand push-ups and rope climbs! 🤸🏻‍♀️

“I love being part of the Grail!!” ~Anita Karlin, CrossFit Grail member since March 2019 💛

Here is more about Anita in her own words:

Tell us a little about yourself:
I was born and raised in NH and Maine.  I cant tell you how much I miss New England.   Brad and I met at Toys R Us in Manchester, NH.  We were married within a year.   We moved to Minot, ND for Brad to finish his degree.  We have 3 boys, Charlie(19), Sammy(17) and Elijah(15).  We’ve lived in Colorado 13 years.  Since living here we love going to Rocky Mtn National Park, camping over in Ridgeway, CO and visiting the hot springs in Ouray, CO.  Brad has worked for DishNetwork for almost 13 yrs in September.   I currently work for Lowes Home Improvement…it will be 3 years in August.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and what got you started:
When I joined the gym I had no idea what to expect.  Just after 6 months I wanted to conquer the world in every aspect with the gym.   Then Covid19 hit.  I loved the online classes but couldn’t wait to get back in the gym.

How has doing CrossFit changed your life outside of the box?
In a whole Crossfit has made me feel so much more confident in my job at Lowe’s. I feel the difference in myself.

What motivated you to keep WOD-ing?
Working out uplifts me. I had been part of the 5:30am Rooster Crew but recently I had to switch to the 4:30pm class because of my work schedule change.  I can’t tell you how nice it was being accepted into the 4:30pm workout class.  I’ve worked out with all of these people but I was worried that I wouldn’t be welcomed…man I was so wrong.  I can’t emphasize how much I was wrong.  I love the Grail….I love the people.  I have never been more accepted at any other gym.

Every day I strive to keep pushing myself.   I want to be able to smoothly knock out Toes 2 Bar,  Pull-ups…strict or kipping.  I’m so excited to keep pushing towards more PR’s.

I’ll be doing Festivus April 2021 with Anne and Heidi. I am so excited to be part of this amazing team…with these amazing ladies!!

Every day I sign up without looking at the WOD…I just know I’m going to do it. Even if there’s a day I question myself…my ability…I still give it 110%

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment would be doing 12 strict push-ups against the wall during the 4-yr anniversary event.  I was definitely on cloud nine that morning.

What is your next QUEST:
I want to.accomplish double unders
I want to finesse my kipping pullups.
I also want to finetune my Toes 2 Bar.

I love being part of the Grail!!
