7 Tips to Get Back on Track


The time between Thanksgiving to the New Year can be a slippery slope as far as our fitness and nutrition goes. We tend to have a few more snacks, desserts and alcoholic beverages, overeat on holiday food, and skip the gym on darker and colder days. It can be difficult to pull yourself out of the free fall and get back on track with our health and fitness.

Here are 7 Tips to Get Back on Track:

  1. Start NOW, not tomorrow or next Monday 📅
    It’s easy to put it off. There is still snack food in the house that can’t go to waste. But you are only hurting yourself. Give it away or put it out of sight. There is no time like the present to refocus on you – how you feel and where you want to go.
  2. Stock up on fresh fruit and veggies 🥕
    Place your grocery order for pick-up or get to the grocery store and stock up on fruit and veggies so you always have a healthy snack on hand.
  3. Cut out the alcohol 🍷
    The alcohol calories add up, cause bloating, and lead to poor food choice decisions, whether in the moment or the next morning (you know the hangover food I’m talking about!)
  4. Hit the gym and get moving 🏋️
    Reserve your spot in class. Lift something heavy. Get moving. Those happy endorphins just make you want more exercise. The after-effect is that you will then want to fuel your body with healthy food, not slow it down.
  5. Plan your meals 🍲
    No more grabbing the leftovers and snacks. Choose a protein source and build around that. Add items to your grocery order since you are already stocking up on fruits and veggies (see #2)
  6. Reach out to your accountability partner – they could use a hand, too! 🤝
    People who have an accountability partner increases your chances of success by 95%. Whether a family member, friend or gym buddy – even telling someone your goals puts it out into the universe. Plus – even your accountability partner could use a little help.
